Hover Modular Synthesizer Beam Controller
HOVER BEAM CONTROLLER
Hover is an analog synthesizer beam controller. Vertical hand movements measured with an infrared beam are converted into CV and gate signals.
Hover is designed to be played. It can be used to add expression to modulation creation with the ease and control of a hand movement, and it features a unique set of modes to modify the output. A looper function allows LFO-type signals to be created with hand movements, leaving Hover to continue to modulate in the performance while being synchronised to the music.
Hover comes as a standalone desktop unit. To control MIDI gear with Hover see Hover MIDI.
OUT NOW: the Eurorack module version Hover Euro.
Hover will be available for order in late 2025/early 2026. Sign-up to the mailing list to be notified about release information.
The output modes include allowing Hover to be used like a standard fader or knob. In this mode, the CV output can be modulated with hand movements, and when done, the output can be frozen by pressing the button. The button lights up to indicate when the hand is positioned to continue from where the output was last frozen, avoiding any jumps in the output. The other modes allow the button to freeze the output when released, zero the output when released, and sample and hold the output when pressed.
The looper function includes a playback rate, allowing you to record hand movements, loop them, and play them back at different speeds. The CV output can be scaled between 0V and 10V. The 5V gate output can be triggered when the hand passes a configurable threshold. Both the CV and gate outputs can be inverted independently. The gate can also be set as an input to trigger the button function or restart the loop from an external trigger source, such as a sequencer. The restart and rate control features allow modulation loops created with Hover to be perfectly in sync with the music.
